CONSCIOUSNESS IS LIKE A LIGHT

 

An oil lamp when lighted not only drives away the darkness but at the same time it also lightens up the whole space. The light of the lamp illumines the whole space. All that is there can be seen in the illumination of that light. Thus light brings clarity. Others use this illumination for seeing what is there. Though others make use of this light for seeing what is there but the light does not have to see all that’s there. This is so because all that is there is already & fully covered by its illumination. It’s all-inclusive. It falls upon and illumines all that is there. It does not discriminate; it does not like or dislike; it does not make any judgement about the things which it covers. The light in its illumination simply reflects all that is there and all that comes within its sphere and yet it does not retain any of the impressions of what is reflected. Thus light remains as it is without any distortion or accretion. Also light has no ego or doer-sense about all that happens in its presence. Light is simply there as a presence and in that presence, everything happens.

That’s how the Consciousness is. An oil lamp or for that matter a light is a perfect example for understanding the nature of consciousness. Consciousness which is the energy of this existence too is nothing but a light only. Its nature is to illuminate. Its illumination is far and wide and covers the whole existence. Consciousness is all-inclusive. Also it has no individuality or ego-sense. Neither it has any doer-sense about it though the whole existence happens in its presence and because of it. Consciousness is like a mirror which simply reflects what comes in front of it and yet it does not retain any of the impressions of the object which it reflects. This reflection or illumination is what is known as awareness. Awareness is the truth. Awareness is all. Everything else is our mental non-sense.

DISSOLUTION OF THE MIND – HOW?

Peace is our original nature, because, we exist, in total peace, in our sleep. However, in our waking, we never know about peace. In our waking, we are never peaceful and are rather disturbed, because, mind is active. Mind is a disturbance, to our peace. Thought, is a disturbance to our peace, because, mind is not our original nature. In sleep, because, this mind disappears, for a while and hence, we exist in our original nature i.e. in complete peace.   Our reality is consciousness. So, the whole spirituality and spiritual practices, are about dissolution of this mind, into consciousness, so that you can always exist, in your original nature i.e. in total peace.
