UNTIL YOU ATTAIN SELF-KNOWLEDGE WHATEVER YOU DO IS IN FULFILMENT OF YOUR EGO ONLY

In your current state of consciousness, whatever you do, when I say whatever, I mean it literally, will only be in fulfillment of your ego. Why so? Because in current state, your ego is the center of your intelligence. Ego is body-consciousness which is imagining that this body is ‘me’ or this body is I’m. Your whole intelligence or consciousness is, thus, functioning for and around your body only. ‘I’m’ is the center of your intelligence. ‘I’m’ is the reason and basis of all your doings.

This is ignorance because you are imagining yourself to be that which you, actually, are not. You are, thus, ignorant of your authentic identity and instead ignorantly functioning out of your fake identity. When you consider yourself to be a physical body, you consider others also to be bodies and this is how ‘I’; ‘me’; ‘mine’ and ‘others’ are born. This is how the world is born. This is how the duality is born. Ego gives birth to duality because ego means others. Ego means par ka chintan; par ka manan. Chintan or manan means others and hence vibhava. Vibhava means that you are not in svabhava. Ego is thus vibhava and hence whatever you do out of your vibhava is just an extension of your ego only.

This is how your whole life, your intelligence keeps functioning for and around that which is not your reality. For example, one is indulging in physical pleasures whom we know as worldly (bhogi). Another is running away from these pleasures whom we know as so-called ‘sanyasi’ (bhagoda). But both are no different from each other. Both are in the same boat because both are ignorant. Both are somehow attached to the physical and consider physical as a reality which is not the case. One who is indulging in physical pleasures considers physical as real and another who is running away from the world too considers physical as real. Both are thus functioning out of ego or body-consciousness. A bhogi is thus doing all which is nourishing his ego and a bhagoda too is doing all in fulfillment of his ego only. For both, the center of their intelligence is their ignorance. Thus so long the ego persists this ignorance too persists. This divide between me and others will persist.

Thus whatever you do out of your vibhava or ego, even something which you consider as divine, will only fulfil or nourish your ego. And that which fulfils or nourishes your ego is always binding because ego is ignorance and ignorance breeds only ignorance. Ignorance can never lead you to release. Ignorance will only lead to and strengthen your ignorance; will strengthen your sense of being a ‘doer’ which is bondage. It’s like, you can give only what you have. You cannot give that which you yourself do not have. So, if you are ego, you will only distribute and share ego with others.

Only when you attain Self-knowledge you realize that you are not this body but a ‘being’. You realize that not physical but nonphysical or consciousness is your reality. Self-knowledge dispels the ignorance or body-consciousness and makes you aware of your being-consciousness which is your reality. Being-consciousness means there are no others but only the ‘being’ or the Self exists and the Self is one and only reality. Self is oneness in which there is no place for others or duality. Chintan / manan is body-consciousness and sumiran (remembrance) is being-consciousness. Sumiran is our svabhava which is remembering all the time that consciousness or energy is all; remembering that not me but the energy of this existence is the doer.

In a state of being-consciousness there is no doing but it’s a happening i.e. the things happen through you. You are no more a ‘doer’. You rather become a tool in the hands of the existence and thus existence functions through you. You become an expression of that which IS. In that state of being-consciousness whatever you do or happens through you, will never bind you but will release you. Because all that you do out of oneness, out of one reality, is not a doing. Doing is out of duality or ego and hence bondage. A self-realized being is one who has no ego and hence there are no ‘others’ for him. Whatever he does cannot bind him because his doing is out of his sense of oneness and not out of his sense of duality. Wrongdoing is only, when others are. But when there are no others and only Self or oneness exists then who will do wrong and to whom? Hence, first know yourself. Meditation is a method to know oneself. Meditation is a method to become aware of one’s reality.
