KNOWING HAPPENS IN A STATE OF RECEIVING
Whatever the Shashtras (sacred scriptures; religious texts etc), which we know today, are otherworldly, in the sense that these scriptures are not a knowledge but a knowing or a wisdom which could happen to the rare ones. Knowledge is worldly which is gathered from outside and can be acquired by anyone by means such as books etc. Knowing or wisdom, on the other hand, is existential which arises from within when you are in a state of receiving. That’s why and that’s how the knowing happened to rare beings such as Bhagavad Gita to Krishna; Agamas to Mahavira; Bhaktamara Strotas to Acharya Mantunga Suri and so on. In fact, this is true about every other scripture belonging to any of the religions in the world.
The state of receiving is a state of total surrender i.e. surrender to the existence. It is a state of total acceptance i.e. no resistance of any kind. The state of receiving is a state of just being i.e. you exist as a part of the WHOLE and not as an ego or an individual being. Thus, the state of receiving is a state of oneness with the existence. In that state, you become existence itself. You, thus, have access to the whole existence and in that state what you perceive is what knowing is. Knowing is the very nature of this existence. In a state of receiving, you function as a limitless and boundless being. In this state of transcendence you become a medium for the existence. You become a tool in the hands of the existence so that the existence can speak through you like the existence spoke through Mahavira; Krishna; Mantungacharya; Kabira etc. Knowing is thus existential which means that knowing is a doing of the existence and not a doing of a human being.
The knowing is,
thus, born out of oneness and hence, it can never be a work of a mind because
mind is not oneness. Mind is duality; mind is worldly and hence whatever that
happens out of mind is worldly and limited for the benefit of few only. Wisdom,
on the other hand, is for the good and is also meant for the humanity as whole.
Mind means, you, as an individual; as an ego. Mind means your will, your sankalapa
and vikalapa, your vasanas. Mind is thus limited. These
scriptures, on the other hand, are a work of that which is beyond mind, work of
that which is transcendental. These scriptures, did not happen in a state of
mind but happened in no-mind state. No-mind state is a state of oneness which
transcends all duality. No-mind state is a state of receiving; a state of
‘being’, a state of total surrender. In a state of receiving, you are in touch
with the knower or the existence within and in that moment what that happens is
knowing. Thus these things could happen
only to those who could be in a state of receiving; in a state of ‘being’ or in
a state of total surrender.
Though the existence is happening through us too and that’s why we are alive but it’s happening in a limited way, as a limited ‘being’ and not in the way like it happened to Krishan and Mahavira because in our current state we are too full of mind; too full of information. In fact, we have become a mind only. Mind does not allow our consciousness to function as per its original or inner nature and thus make us limited. Consciousness is limitless and is not limited to a physical form.
Hence, mind is the only obstruction; only thing which is stopping you from becoming one with the existence. Because you are not in a state of receiving you have to take these scriptures from outside. If you become receptive, then you will not need to take these scriptures in, from outside but instead you, yourself would become the source of these scriptures. Scriptures will happen through you because only when you stop taking things from outside, can the existence or knowing happen from within. Existence chose, only those, who could be in a state of receiving. This is how the existence happened through Kabira in the form of couplets because Kabira was in a state of receiving.
You have to lose yourself (your individuality or ego) for the divine to descend upon you and that’s why Kabira too said… .prem gali ati sankari….love street is too narrow to accommodate two which means, when you as an individual exist HE is not and when HE is, you are not. When mind is, consciousness is not and when consciousness is, mind is not. These both dimensions cannot exist together at the same time like two sides of a coin cannot exist together at the same time. When you are completely silent and still within you are in a state of receiving. In that state of total acceptance what happens is what we know as wisdom or knowing which we name as Ramayana, Gita, Agamas, Bhakatamar etc
Thus the only thing, yes, I mean it, just one thing, which you need to do is to keep your mind aside; keep your will (sankalapa / vikalapa) aside and live by the will of the existence and you will become a window for the existence to happen through you. In fact, that is the only thing in your hands and that is the only thing you can and should do. ‘Beyond’ is not in your hands. ‘Beyond’ is a matter of ‘Grace’. Please remember one thing that when you (as an ego or individual) do not exist ‘you’ (HE) really exist.
Meditation is a state of ‘being’, a state of receiving; a state of surrender, a state of total acceptance. Existence is total acceptance. It does not discriminate or resist anything. In this state, existence speaks through you.
