YOUR THOUGHT (WORDS) IS YOUR INDIVIDUALITY
Consciousness, which is the reality of this existence, is pure energy. Consciousness is like a light which just shows up or illumines all that which comes within its sphere. Consciousness knows no words; knows no language. Consciousness is pure silence; pure stillness. It’s pure seeing or pure perception. Consciousness is pure awareness i.e. knowing without thinking.
A thought on the other hand is nothing but words and words are ours because substance of a thought is not words but energy. Thought is essentially the same energy which has created everything else in this existence. The words which we give to this energy which we know as thoughts are ours. These words will be of that language which we learnt as a part of our social grooming. Thus, an Englishman will have thoughts in English; a French will have thoughts in his language. A Tamil person will have thoughts in Tamil language and so on. Not only but even at the same time, two persons of the same language, will give different words to their thoughts.
All that which is not there in the consciousness is our doing and hence belong to the ego or individuality because ‘doing’ is ego. Consciousness is just ‘being’. Consciousness is pure presence. This ego or individuality is non-existent. It’s false or imaginary ‘I’. If you search within you will not find this false ‘I’. This false ‘I’ is our creation which is represented through our words which we know as thoughts. If you dive within, you will only find silence and stillness and not something which you can call as ‘I’. Consciousness has no sense of ‘I’. Similarly. this physical body too has no sense of ‘I’. The body does not say ‘I’m’ this body. Similarly, the consciousness too does not announce that ‘I’ am. It is we, through words, in our mind, say that I’m or I’m this body. ‘I’m’ or ‘I’m this body’ is just a thought.
Thus, word or language is not the substance of a thought. Substance of a thought is the same energy. Words which we give to this energy is our doing. We impose words onto this energy. For example, you looked at something and you then mumbled within, oh! it is a tree. Tree is just a word which we learnt as a part of our social grooming. ‘Tree’ is just a thought. In reality, there is no such thing as tree. The tree does not say ‘I’m tree’. It is you who say that it is a tree. The same is true for everything else. There is no such thing as world because the world does not announce ‘I am the world’. We say this is the world. World exists in our mind. World is just a thought.
Thus, the words which we give, all the time to everything else in this existence is what ego or individuality is. This noise in the form of thoughts or words is ours. Words or thoughts mean that your false sense of ‘I’ or individuality is operative. Your reality is not operative. Reality does not make noise. It simply absorbs all that which is there. When you look at, for example, a tree and at the same time if you remain silent within and do not give any words to it in your mind then you will know that your reality is operative which is pure perception. Consciousness is pure seeing which is just absorbing things as they are - without any words or thoughts. Looking at a tree or something else for that matter is pure seeing or pure perception but adding words such as tree etc is our doing. ‘Doing’ is ego. Consciousness is just ‘being’; just presence.
Ego or individuality means ‘others’ –par ka chintan; par ka manan. Peace or silence is our original nature. Mind or thought is disturbance to this peace. Thus, we need to understand that mind or ego is the only obstacle to realizing our original nature. Hence, in order to realize our true identity or experience our reality what we need to do is to rest our individuality or ego. Resting individuality means we should stop giving words to the objects. When you do not give words to the energy then the mind or ego is extinguished at its source and thoughts are not born. Because once a thought is born then it will live its full course. You cannot help it.
Thought is outward movement of energy. Outward movement is loss of energy. However, if you become aware and stop giving words to this energy then the same energy which otherwise would have moved out and dissipated, now stays within. It stays with the Source. Turning direction of energy from outward to inward is dissolution of ego. Hence if you want to dissolve your ego; kill your ego then you have to turn inward; remain focused within. Turning inward, in nutshell, is practicing silence - silence not of speech but of mind. Silence is your nature, your svavhava and ego or individuality or mind or words is vibhava. No-mind is your svabhava and mind is vibhava. Meditation is a method to turn inward. (अगला पोस्ट -बंधन और मुक्ति, ऊर्जा के संदर्भ में है, शरीर के संदर्भ में नहीं)
