IF YOU CAN ENTER YOUR SLEEP CONSCIOUSLY THEN YOU WILL ALSO ENTER YOUR DEATH CONSCIOUSLY
Did you remember ever entering your sleep in awareness? No. Never. Why? Because sleep is unconsciousness and that’s why, just before sleep, you lose your awareness and that’s why you never ever remember having entered your sleep consciously. However, it does not mean that you cannot enter your sleep consciously. You, certainly, can but this can happen to you only by your striving, only by your conscious efforts. If you can enter your sleep in awareness then, one day, you will enter your death too in consciousness and entering death in consciousness is end of this game of physicality i.e. this business of coming and going to this physical world in a physical form will end for you which is what we know as mukti or liberation i.e. liberation or mukti from physical existence.
Death and sleep are not different. Both are same, with only difference that sleep is short death and death is long sleep. Sleep and death are nothing but just different states of the same unconsciousness. Also sleep and death are just links in the continuity of the game of physical existence. They are like an interval in a picture in the cinema hall. As picture resumes on the screen after a little break or pause, similarly this life or bodily existence resumes after a temporary pause which we know as death. Sleep and death are just continuity of the game of unconsciousness because bodily existence is nothing but unconsciousness. Consciousness has no forms or objects in it. Consciousness is pure energy, nature of which is, pure illumination or pure knowing.
Sleep and death are unconsciousness because you enter both of them in unconsciousness. Before sleep you lose your awareness and the same happens with death which is that just before death you lose your consciousness. Because you enter something in unconsciousness, obviously you will exit that too in unconsciousness. After sleep, you wake up in the same body and the same mind-game or unconsciousness starts playing again with your waking up. Similarly, after death too, you wake up in same unconsciousness but in a new body. We are thus, born unconscious. The nature delivers us as unconscious beings.
Thus, if you want to come awake or wake up in consciousness and not in unconsciousness as has been the case so far then the only thing you need to do is to first, learn to enter your sleep consciously. If you can enter your sleep consciously then, for sure, you will enter your death too in consciousness which will mean end of this game of bodily existence for you, for good. For this to happen i.e., to enter sleep consciously the only thing you need to do is to go to sleep every night, as if you are going to death and if you happen to wake up again next morning then wake up as if you are born again. Conscious memory or mind - mind is nothing but memory only - is the only hurdle which is stopping you from entering your sleep in awareness. In fact, this is the only sadhana (spiritual practice) you need to do which is that die every night and be born again every morning and thus live your life every day anew, afresh i.e. without the burden of your conscious memory.
Hence, please make use of this opportunity which is made available to you, everyday, by the existence, in the form of sleep, to know and experience death. Meditation is the method which prepares you to enter sleep and then death, one day, consciously and thus becoming free from this business of avagaman i.e. physical existence.
