THE ONLY WAY OUT OF SUFFERING IS THAT MIND MUST EVOLVE INTO FULL CONSCIOUSNESS

In the last post, I mentioned that, suffering is because of the mind and is in the mind. In that post, I also mentioned that animals know nothing about suffering because they don’t have mind, which we have. Since, they don’t have mind they never know any suffering. The reason, animals do not have mind is that, animals have no other possibility except existing here, just as physical bodies. They are born as animals and they die as animals. They can’t do more than eating, drinking n reproducing. Animals are, thus, total unconsciousness and hence, the nature has given them instincts and not mind.

I also mentioned in that post that, in our sleep, we too know nothing about suffering because in sleep our mind is not present. In sleep, mind merges temporarily into unconsciousness and hence, you forget your suffering too, for short duration. A logical conclusion, therefore, is that, if you want to forget your mind then, remain asleep as long as you can. Because, so long you could be in sleep, you can give a miss to your mind and hence to your suffering too.

That’s the reason that, if you see around, you will find that, this is, exactly, what the whole humanity is doing i.e. it is busy drowning itself in ‘sleep’. Now, ‘sleep’ here does not mean the sleep, in the ordinary sense but ‘sleep’ here fundamentally, means unconsciousness or behoshi. All what you do to keep yourself unconscious (behosh) or all what you do to lose your hosh or consciousness is nothing but ‘sleep’ only. Thus, many of the ways of unconsciousness, which the whole humanity is busy doing are, drugs; drinks; sex; and other compulsive acts, so as to forget the mind temporarily. Now, drowning yourself in unconsciousness may help forget your mind, for short time but can never be the lasting solution because once your ‘sleep’ is over, the mind reappears with a bang. Also, doing something which makes you more unconscious, not only brings in more unconsciousness but being unconscious means, you exist here like other animals.

Thus, using ‘sleep’ as a means to forget mind is like playing the game of hide and seek with mind, wherein mind appears and disappears temporarily, as is the case with your sleep. Playing game of hide and seek with mind is a solace but not a solution. So, the question arises as, what is the lasting solution? The answer lies, in your sleep itself. Do you know as why don’t you remember your mind in sleep? Because, in sleep, mind merges into unconsciousness. So, the lasting way out of mind or suffering is, complete dissolution or merger of mind with a difference that, this merger of mind must happen in awareness, in your waking hours, when you are a bit conscious and not in sleep because sleep is unawareness and hence of no help. Maintaining awareness, in your waking hours, is conscious sleep, meaning, you exist in your waking state, as if you are asleep at the level of your body and mind and yet you are fully awake and conscious within. Mind dissolving into consciousness, is mind transforming itself into consciousness and becoming consciousness or awareness itself.

Please remember that consciousness or awareness is your nature and hence only when you are away from your home i.e. away from your nature, that the outsider or the mind can dare to enter your house. Just check and you will see it for yourself that, mind is only when awareness is not there because, awareness is presence and mind is absence – absence of presence. So, bring in your awareness or presence and mind or absence will be gone. For dispelling darkness, the only thing you need to do is to light a lamp and similarly for dispelling unconsciousness, you just need to bring in consciousness. You cannot dispel darkness with darkness but with light only. Meditation is nothing but practicing awareness or presence only.
