DO YOU WANT OTHERS TO BENEFIT FROM YOUR COMPANY? DO THIS….
Did you notice that there are persons, you always want to be with them; you love their company and hence want to
be in their company; you are, always, attracted to them? On the other hand,
there are persons, you always want to avoid. You don’t want to meet them; you
do not want to be in their company. You are, a sort of, repelled by their
presence. Why this is so? Did you ever try to figure out the reason for this?
What is that, in them, which attracts or repels you? The answer is, presence or
absence of ego or individuality in them. People, who you want to avoid are
those, who are full of themselves i.e. they are full of ego, full of their
individuality. On the other hand, those who have no sense of ego or sense of
individuality, are the ones, you always want to be with them. You always relish
their presence and hence you, always, wish to be in their company.
That’s the reason that you are always attracted to an enlightened being. You always want to be in his ‘presence’, because an enlightened being has nothing of him, nothing of his individuality or ego, in him. He does not have any personal agenda. Instead, he has just become a ‘presence’; just become the existence itself. Existence or consciousness is just ‘presence’; just ‘being’. That’s why, his presence is very soothing; very relieving. In his presence, you tend to become peaceful because, in his presence, your mind ceases to be. His presence, therefore, may give you a taste of the other dimension, which we know as divine. In his presence, you are likely to get a glimpse of that which is eternal; that which IS and is the very basis of everything in this existence.
That, is exactly, what a Guru does to you. His role as a Guru, lies in, what his presence does to you. In his powerful presence; all-encompassing presence; your ego is dissolved, momentarily and in that moment, you forget yourself, you forget your individuality and you, thus, get a glimpse of the divine; a glimpse of the eternal. Mind is the only obstacle; only hurdle and if, your mind ceases to be, then you, too, can experience that stillness; the blissfulness within you. Stillness is the core of this existence. Stillness is the ‘Center’ of this existence and source of all movements.
If, you become empty of yourself i.e. empty of your ego or individuality then what remains thereafter or what is left thereafter is nothing else but just the ‘presence’ only. This can happen only in the presence of a master because he is no longer an individual existence but has become universal existence. Because he lives the universality and not the individuality like us and hence his ‘presence’ acts as a catalyst for the change in you, which you experience in his company.
Once you get a taste of that stillness; you become a sadhak; your journey as a seeker starts. You now, make your own efforts to find the Source – source of that stillness; of that blissfulness - so that this stillness becomes a permanent thing for you, like your own well of water, rather than depending on outside source. So, if you also want others to be in your company; you also want others to benefit from your ‘presence’, you also want others to be attracted to you, then just do one thing which is that become a ‘presence’ only. ‘Presence’ means just ‘being’ or just ‘existing’. Presence is higher ‘Self” and ego is lower ’self’’; presence is divine and ego is individuality. ‘Presence’ means nothing of you but all of HIM only. Consciousness is just presence and hence divine. Meditation is the way to dissolve your ’self’ and become the SELF.
