MATERIAL WELL-BEING IS NOT SPIRITUAL WELL-BEING

In your waking, I mean, during the day, you do few things, on the outside. Now, by doing these few things, in the world, if you think that you have done all, then you are mistaken. This is for two reasons - firstly, worldly or material things have limited relevance, in the sense, that all what you do, on the outside, are nothing but just physical only because they all have, to do with the physical and physical is relevant to you only, so long, you are in this body. 

Once, you lose this body, then the physical i.e. the world and worldly, too, lose relevance for you. Thus, material well-being is passing and not lasting. Secondly, whatever you do, on the outside, may bring material riches to you, which, in turn, will make your surroundings and living, here, better but these material riches, can never bring, spiritual well-being to you. 

Please know that, spiritual well-being, has to do with your spirit, with your interiority i.e. with your fundamentals and hence, has nothing to do with the physical, which you do, on the outside. Similarly, many things, we currently do, in the name of spirituality, such as visiting religious places; reading scriptures or listening to religious discourses etc, but they have nothing to do with spirituality. This is because, all these things are just ‘doings’ or physical in nature, meaning, they are done with the body and mind and at the level of body and mind and hence, they can never bring spiritual well-being to you. 

Spirit or energy is nonphysical and hence, spiritual well-being can arise and happen to you only n only, when you do something, at the level of your energy or at the level of your spirit. The physical, therefore, can never result into spiritual well-being, for you. ‘Doing’ is physical but ‘being’ is nonphysical or spiritual. ‘Doing’ is on the outside i.e. in the physical world but ‘being’ is of the inside and hence, spiritual well-being is only, when you are just ‘being’. Spirit or energy or consciousness is just ‘being’, just ‘presence’, simply the IS-ness. 

‘Doing’ is movement but ‘being’ is stillness and hence, only when you learn to ‘be’ i.e. you learn the ways of just ‘being’, you earn, spiritual well-being, for you. Learning to ‘be’ means, learning to distance from your body and mind, I mean, that which is physical. When you stop your ‘doing’, you are ‘being’. Once, you keep your body and mind aside, what really remains behind, is just ‘existence’, just the ‘being’, just the ‘presence’ or just the ‘IS-ness’. Spiritual wellness, thus, results not from your ‘doing’ but from your ‘being’, from resting, in the ‘IS-ness’ of your ‘being’. 

Hence, only when you are just ‘being’, you are spiritual and you, therefore, are doing something for your spiritual well-being. If you learn to ‘be’ or just ‘being’, then not only you will exist here peacefully, while you are in this body but this peace will remain with you, post the loss of this body, too. Spiritual well-being, goes beyond your death and stays with you, forever. Material well-being, is like a cosmetic change on the surface and hence, is external to you but spiritual change is internal, which transforms your nature and thus, results in lasting peace. Unlike, material well-being, spiritual well-being, survives even your death and remains with you, forever. 

Thus, spiritual well-being, alone, can take you beyond i.e. beyond this bodily existence. Material well-being is just a preparation for another visit to this world, in another physical body. But spiritual well-being is a preparation for merger with the Source i.e. liberation from this physical existence. Choice is yours. Meditation is just ‘being’ and hence, a technology to earn spiritual well-being, for you.
