MIND IS A DISTURBANCE TO YOUR PEACE
Did you notice, that in your sleep, you exist peacefully, without any disturbance? Not only, that you exist peacefully, but you also exist totally and fully, because, in your sleep nothing else exists for you and yet you exist i.e. you remain alive. Sleep, therefore, is your natural state because, in sleep, nothing else but your nature alone, does exist. In sleep, you exist in, what is integral to your existence.
However, with your waking up, your peace is disturbed. In your waking, you become sad, you suffer and you become miserable. Why so? Why this change, in your waking? The answer is - your mind. In sleep, you exist in your nature i.e. in total peace because mind is absent. In sleep, mind too goes to sleep. Though, peace is your original nature but because the mind is active, in your waking and hence, your peace is disturbed.
Please remember that, mind is the seer, mind is the cognizer. Mind is not integral to your existence but is external to your nature. Mind is something, which you have collected from here, in the form of information and hence, a disturbance to your peace.
Mind, thus, is a reason of your suffering, a reason of your becoming sad and miserable because mind is your individuality. This disturbance, is in the form of the noise, which your mind keeps making, all the time, in your waking. This noise of thought or of the mind, within, is a disturbance to your peace.
Now, if you can make conscious efforts to remove this mind in your waking, then in your waking too, you would exist peacefully, as you existed, in sleep. Not that, you would exist peacefully but you would exist totally n fully, too, because you would exist in your natural state. You would exist in what is integral to you. That’s exactly the closed eye practices which we know, as meditation, is.
Meditation is nothing but practicing to ignore your mind in your waking. Meditation is consciously resting your individuality, in your waking and thus existing in total silence, total peace, or in total awareness. Awareness, consciousness, silence, peace, no-mind state, one and the same thing, is your nature. Meditation, thus, is practicing to exist without mind, is practicing to distance from your mind, in your waking, so as to exist, in one’s nature.
