WANT TO KNOW DEATH? KNOW YOUR SLEEP.....
If you want to know your death then you should know your sleep, because sleep and death are not, too, different. In fact, both are same except one little difference, which is, that death is a long sleep, whereas sleep is a small death. After sleep, you wake up again in the same body and after death, too, you wake up again, for sure, but in a new body.
Sleep is unconsciousness and death too, is unconsciousness. You, always, enter your sleep, in unconsciousness i.e. just before sleep you lose your awareness and thus, you never come to know, as when you entered your sleep. The same is true for death, too, which is that, just before death also, you lose your consciousness and thus, you never come to know, as when you entered your death. Because sleep is unconsciousness, you never come to experience your sleep and similarly death, too, is pure unconsciousness and you, thus, never come to experience your death.
In sleep, mind disappears, for the time being, but is not lost really and the same mind starts functioning again with your waking up. The same is true for death as well. With death, though, the body is lost, for good, but the mind is never lost. The mind remains intact, in the subtle form and the same mind becomes active again, in a new body, after birth. Thus, both sleep and death are nothing but just different states of the same mind or unconsciousness because mind is nothing but unconsciousness only.
Both, sleep and mind, are just brief pauses in the continuity of what we know, as life except that sleep is a small pause and death is a long pause. However, the life resumes, for sure, in both cases, like a picture resumes, in the cinema hall, after interval. In sleep, you exist without body-consciousness i.e. you do not experience your body and the same is true for death, as well, because in both the cases, what exists is the mental body, in subtle form.
Thus, death is nothing but just a link between two births similar, to sleep which is a link between your two waking states. Death and sleep are just continuity of the same unconsciousness or bodily existence. Unconsciousness, can never release you, from this physical or bodily existence. What can really release you, is the consciousness. If you succeed entering your sleep consciously or in awareness then, for sure, one day, you will enter your death, too, in consciousness or awareness. Please know that, entering death, in awareness, is liberation or mukti – mukti or freedom from this physical or bodily existence. Meditation is the method which prepares you to enter your sleep and death, consciously and thus becoming free, from this business of avagaman – coming and going.
