HOW MEDITATION (AWARENESS) HELPS, DISSOLVE YOUR KARMA, IN ONE GO?

To understand this, we first need to know, that destiny or karmic memory is nothing but mind, in essence, because mind is the storehouse of our vasanas or samsakaras. This mind energy, too, is the same energy, like the energy of this existence. However, this energy has, diluted itself with karmic memory and hence, lost its originality or its purity and has, thus, separated, from its Source and has since, temporarily, taken on this physical form.

The Source or consciousness is pure energy which, has no impurities or samskaras in it. So, until and unless, this mind or impure energy is washed off, its impurities or karmic memory, this mind energy will remain, separated from its Source and will keep, seeking newer and newer bodies, because memory wants physical expression and physical expression is not possible without a physical form, like this body. This memory remains alive, even after one’s death, in the form of subtle body, also known as jivatma or ‘being’.

Since, energy can neither be created nor destroyed but can only be transformed and hence, once this energy, is cleaned off its impurities, this energy, will no longer remain, as mind energy but will get transformed into pure energy. Pure energy, never seeks a body because, there is no more memory in it, which wants physical expression. The pure energy, just merges with its Source, where it had originally separated from. This is like, water in a pot. The water in the pot, too, is the same water as, in the ocean but this water is separate from its Source, only, so long, it is kept in the pot. This water, if released from the pot, will go straight and merge, with its Source i.e. the ocean. This merger or dissolution of mind energy (jivatma or ‘being’) into its Source or this existence is, traditionally, known as nirvana or moksha or liberation. Liberation or mukti, essentially, means liberation of energy, from physical existence.

Meditation is the only technology, which can do washing or cleaning of this mind energy and transform this energy, back into pure energy. This transformation of mind energy is dissolution (kshay) of karma at the level of energy itself, requiring no physical expression. This is for the reason that, transformation (rupantaran) is not change (badlav). Change is cosmetic; change is on the surface; change is at the level of appearance. However, in change, the underlying quality remains the same. But transformation means, the underlying quality changes. Transformation is complete overhauling which leaves behind, nothing of the old. Change is imposed from outside, such, as the moral standards (list of dos and don’ts) which society imposes from outside, but transformation comes from within, out of one’s inner understanding or wisdom. Change is temporary but transformation is permanent.

Now, let me explain, as how meditation can help dissolve your karma at the level of energy itself, without any need for settlement. We need to understand, that meditation is awareness and awareness is transforming. Awareness is liberating, because awareness is, like a fire, which burns up all that is unwanted, all that is unneeded, like a goldsmith does to gold. By burning up the gold in the fire, the goldsmith makes the gold pure i.e. free from all impurities. The same is true for awareness. Awareness transforms, mind energy into pure energy, by eradicating imprints of karmic memory from the energy and thus dissolving karma, at the level of energy itself. Transformation is like alchemy i.e. transforming something in a mysterious way, like turning, base metal into gold.

If you exist here, without reaction i.e. in pure awareness, which we know as meditation, then, with passing of every breath, you drop or dissolve your karma, which is what transformation of energy is; which is what conscious dissolution (kshaya) of karma is. Transformation happens not by ‘doing’ but by just ‘being’ because you can access your energy, only by just ‘being’ and not by ‘doing’. ‘Being’ is just presence – presence of chetana and hence, is a state of pure awareness. In a state of ‘being’, you are fully awake and conscious within. When you are just ‘being’, you are centered, as against being split or spread into many directions. In a state of ‘being’, there is no leakage or loss of energy and instead, the energy stays within (man ka man mei vishram; man ka man mei thaher jana) and you become a pot of energy. Energy conserved, is energy saved and hence, transformation of energy.

Meditation, thus, transforms mind energy into pure energy and in the process, obliterates imprints of karma at the energy level itself, without you actually facing consequences of that. Meditation is ‘just being’, meaning, leaving your energy, free and freeing your energy, from all entanglement, and hence, is transformation of energy into pure energy. It is like, exposing a wet cloth to the sunlight and it gets dried up. Transformation is like a new avatar, which means the transformed thing, retains nothing of old in it, like a dried cloth has nothing of the wet cloth, in it.

That’s why, those who are in hurry, those who want to go beyond, this physical existence, in this life itself, walk the path of meditation or awareness because, meditation hastens this process, and help dissolve entire stock of karma, in one go, and thus, put a full stop to this business of avagaman, once n for all.
