MEDITATION MEANS CONSCIOUSLY RESTING YOUR INDIVIDUALITY, SO AS TO EXIST IN TOTAL PEACE.

Peace is your nature, peace is your reality but noise is of your individuality, of your ego, which keeps happening, all the time, in your waking. That’s why, you remain disturbed and you never find a moment of peace, in your waking, because this noise of your thoughts, keeps happening non-stop in your mind. Only, when your go to sleep, this noise stops and you become peaceful for a while.

That’s why, you must have noticed that, after deep sleep, you wake up, fully rested and afresh. Now, this feeling of freshness or having rested enough, is not a result of your sleep but is for the reason that your thoughts, your individuality had stopped, for a while. As a result of which, you existed, in total peace, in your sleep. Thought is a disturbance to your peace. In sleep, you exist in complete peace and silence because thought is not.

However, with your waking up, you become disturbed again and you suffer, simply for the reason, that with your waking up, your individuality, your ego, too, comes awake and with that, your thoughts, too, begin to happen i.e. your mind also comes into action. Now, sleep is just nature’s arrangement, to forcibly rest your individuality, so that you could exist in complete peace, for some time.

Hence, those who looked at sleep, they realised that, if one can exist, in total silence and total peace, in one’s sleep, then why one cannot exist in the same state, in his waking, too? After all, the person is the same. There are not two different persons. The person who is disturbed and is existing now, in his waking, is the one and the same, who also existed in, total peace, in his sleep as well. Then, why this difference, that in sleep, he is peaceful and now, in his waking, he is disturbed?

That’s how the closed eye practices, which we know, as meditation began i.e. taking a cue from sleep, people started mimicking the sleep, in their waking i.e. existing, in one’s waking also, in the same state, as one existed in sleep i.e. peaceful and silent. However, this mimicking comes with one big difference of quality and that difference is, of awareness. In sleep, though, we exist in total peace and silence but because the awareness is missing and hence, we can't experience that state of peace.

Meditation is a state of total awareness only. Meditation is nothing but consciously resting your individuality, your thoughts, your reaction, so that you could exist, in total peace and total silence, in your waking, too, as you existed in sleep. So, in your waking, you practice to exist, as if you are asleep, externally but internally you are fully awake. Meditation, thus, is nothing but practicing conscious sleep i.e. practicing to exist, as if, you are asleep at the level of your body and mind but within you are fully conscious.

As you rest your individuality, you automatically become peaceful and silent because noise is of the thoughts and thoughts are external to your existence. Whereas silence or peace is your nature, which is intrinsic to your existence. So, to become peaceful and silent, you don’t have to make efforts to bring peace and silence from outside but the only thing, you need to do, is to consciously remove the noise of your thoughts i.e. rest your individuality and you will find that peace is, silence is because peace is your nature and nature is always there with you. It is noise of your thoughts which, only has covered or hidden the peace, from you experiencing it.

Existing in peace and silence, is to exist in total awareness. That’s what meditation is. Meditation is practicing to consciously rest or still your individuality, your thoughts, your ego, so as to know, that the peace IS, silence IS.
