WHAT YOU KNOW AS WORLD OR SAMASARA IS NOTHING BUT JUST A PLAY OF YOUR MIND ONLY.
What you know, as world
or samsara, or for that matter anything else and everything else, which you see or come across,
is nothing but just a play, just an extension of your mind only. The other or
the world, is because of the mind and is in your mind only. When the mind is
active, the world, happens for you, the world exists for you. That’s why, the
world exists and happens in your wakefulness only, because, only in your
wakefulness, your mind is active. But the same samsara or
world, disappears in your sleep, because in sleep, your mind goes inactive,
temporarily. In sleep, because, the mind is not in action and hence, the world,
too, does not exist, for you.
Thus, what you know, as
wakefulness and sleep, are nothing but just a play of your mind only. When,
mind is active, it is wakefulness, for you and when your mind is not active but
resting then it’s sleep for you. It is the mind, which we, also, commonly know,
as ego. Thus, ego, means that your mind or your individuality, is operative.
That’s why, for you, all the time, in your waking, it is action, action, and
action only, simply because your eyes are open and exchange of energy, between
the subject and object, is happening, non-stop.
That’s the reason, it is said,
that ours is a state of unconsciousness or behoshi because
mind is unconsciousness. Only if you consciously still your mind, you will come
awake in real sense. So, if you, consciously still or rest your mind, then you
will know, that awareness is and action is only when needed. That’s what
freedom and bondage are. Bondage means compulsive action i.e. action, all the
time but freedom means, freedom of action i.e. action is, only, when
needed.
Now, this fact, that
everything is just a play and extension of mind only, is true for your death
and birth, as well. Death and birth, too, are nothing but your mind becoming
passive for a while or mind becoming active again. When mind is rested or
becomes passive, for some time, we know it, as death and when the same mind
becomes active again, we know it, as birth. So, it’s mind, which actually lives
in this body, which actually sleeps and wakes up, which actually, takes birth
and dies, which actually takes on, new body and drops the old body.
Now, this play of mind can be
stopped only by destroying this mind. Without destruction or dissolution of
this mind, this mind-game, can never be stopped. Sleep and death, are just
nature’s way of forcibly resting this mind, but this is not the solution.
Because in both the cases i.e. in sleep and death, the mind is not destroyed
but it remains alive, in subtle form. As the same mind wakes up, from forced
rest i.e. post sleep after sometime, so does this mind wakes up again, post
death, in a new body.
So, death and sleep are not the solution or end of mind but sleep and death are just temporary pauses in the continuity of this mind-game or in the journey of this mind. Solution is only, when this mind is rested, not temporarily but permanently. Now this can be done, only, when you are alive i.e. when you are in this body. In fact, all sadhana or spiritual practices are about conscious dissolution of this mind only. Meditation is a technology, to learn to dissolve or rest this mind permanently.
