MEDITATION IS NOT FOR ‘BENEFITS’ AS IS USUALLY UNDERSTOOD
Because all benefits, including health benefits are worldly whereas, meditation is non-worldly. Meditation is the only way, to go beyond this limited or bodily existence. Thus, meditation is certainly not for ‘benefits’ as is usually understood. Though, it is also true that some side effects of meditation, in terms of health and other worldly gains, happen on the sidelines. But, those things are only, the by-products of meditation, are just incidental to the process of meditation. Rather, these benefits are distractions to the main goal because, if you focus upon those things and get carried away by these so-called benefits then, you will miss the main product of meditation, for which it is really meant. That’s the reason, a real sadhak, never pursues and is never interested in the incidental things.
